Thelma Montgomery Pruitt

Thelma Montgomery Pruitt, age 90, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of Billy Richmond Pruitt, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at her residence. She was born July 23, 1926 in Prestonsburg, KY a daughter of the late Dayrus and Lula Hale Montgomery. Thelma was a retired School Teacher, having taught in the Floyd Co. school system for 32 years, a member of the retired teachers association and member of the Prestonsburg First Church of God.

Thelma was survived by two daughters; Rose (Clarence) Risner and Pat (Roy) Hackworth, all of Prestonsburg, three grandchildren, Roy Michael (Susannah) Hackworth, Clarissa Renee (Amado) Cano, Travis Richmond (Diana) Risner, four great grandchildren, Mariah Hackworth, Kelsie Hackworth, Carrdell Cano, Cami Cano.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by eight brothers, Burt, L.P., Bun, Forest, Bill, Henry, Roy and Thomas Montgomery and one sister Darcus Music.

Funeral service for Thelma Montgomery Pruitt will be conducted Tuesday, September 6 at 1 PM in the Prestonsburg First Church of God, Prestonsburg, with Travis Risner (grandson) and Garland Lacy officiating. Pallbearers: Raymond Hayden, Bill Fraley, Hershel Akers, John "Wimpy" Clark, Ben Hale, George Maines, Bud Montgomery, Michael Hackworth and Andrew Slone. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements.
