Zelma Lois (Givens) McDowell

Zelma Lois Givens McDowell, age 85, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of Jack Wayne McDowell, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. She was born November 12, 1935 in Mt. Sterling, KY, the daughter of the late Jacob Whitney and Dorothy Setters Givens Hart. She was a member of the Fitzpatrick First Baptist Church and  the bookkeeper and office manager for the family owned Commercial Refrigeration Business.

She is survived by one son: John McDowell, two daughters; Jackie (Tim) Mitchell, Judi (Mike) Calhoun, one son in law; Brian Hager, all of Prestonsburg, KY, six grandchildren; Jeremy Whitney (Anita) Mitchell, Ashley Mitchell (Pat) Martin, Nicholas (Jessica) Hager, Elaina Calhoun (Justin) Cooley, Cathryn Calhoun and Jacob Isaac McDowell, six great grandchildren; Jaxon Martin, Madi Mitchell, Lynlee Hager, Brody Martin, Elizabeth Hager and Presley Martin, two brothers; Robert and Edwin C. Hart.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Jennifer Hager.

Funeral service for Zelma will be conducted on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the McDowell Family Cemetery, Prestonsburg, KY. Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, KY.
