Willis Mathews

Willis Mathews of Prestonsburg, KY was born at Mima on Smith’s Creek in Morgan County, KY on September 25, 1929. He was the youngest child of William J. and Beulah Cantrell Mathews. Willis left us suddenly on February 28, 2020. Willis was a retired cross country truck driver for over 60 years and a member of Wheelwright Masonic Lodge No. 889 for nearly 53 years.

He is survived by one daughter, Gwen and Ricky Hamilton of McDowell, KY Two grandsons: Richard and Stephanie Hamilton of Morehead, Ky, Ryan and Brittney Hamilton of Midway, KY; One great granddaughter: Savannah Hamilton of Morehead, KY; Four great grandsons: Chase Hamilton of Morehead, KY, Colin, Landon and Evan Hamilton of Midway, KY

Willis was preceded in death by his wife: Earlene Mathews; His parents: William J. and Beulah Mathews; One daughter: Judith Lynn Hall; One brother: Clark Mathews; One sister: Mildred Mathews Salyer

Funeral service for Mr. Mathews will be conducted on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 12 noon in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Arnold Turner, Jr officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY. Visitation is Thursday at 6 PM with a masonic service at 7 PM at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, KY.
