William "Bill" Carlos Dunn

William Carlos "Bill" Dunn, age 89, of Somerset, KY, husband of Ruby Hall Dunn, passed away on December 25, 2023 at the East KY Veterans Center, Hazard, KY. Bill was born in Lexington, KY on June 17, 1934 to James T. and Evelyn Bixter Dunn.

He joined the Marine Corps on March 20, 1952 and served on the aircraft carrier, The Coral Sea. He was awarded medals for Good Conduct, Navy Occupation Service and Good Conduct.

Bill loved sports and won many boxing matches while in the Marines and multiple golf tournaments during the 1990's in Central Kentucky. Lastly, he was a big UK Basketball fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; William Carlos "Chris" (Tracy) Dunn Jr., Tammy (Tom) Shannon and Tim (Lana) Dunn, grandchildren; Shannan Dunn, Jennifer Shannon, Travis Dunn, Josh McHatton, Brandon Dunn, Brian Dunn, Cody Dunn and Austin Dunn, also six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother; Kenneth (Susan) Dunn, sisters; Aileen Rash and Lois Rhodes, a special step daughter; Candi Huffman also survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Terry Dunn, siblings, Jack Dunn Jr., Phyllis Dunn, Barbara Rogers and Geraldine Branson.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel Martin, KY, with Leighton Lavey officiating. Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetery, Allen, KY, visitation is from 2 until 3 p.m. Wednesday for family and 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. for the public, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
