Sherry (Newman) Hughes

March 4, 1950 Fannie (Tackett) Newman and Perry Newman, Jr were blessed with a bundle of joy they named Sherry. Sherry and her sister Debbie were very close growing up in Price Kentucky. Sherry graduated from McDowell High School eventually meeting her husband Herschel Hughes. Sherry and Herschel would later marry welcoming a blessing of their own naming him Byron. Sherry and Herschel spent many years in the Louisville area with Sherry working as a CNA, Real Estate Broker and Homemaker, to mention a few. Byron would provide his Mom and Dad with a most precious gift, his daughter and their angel Hannah Hughes.

Hannah was the apple of their eye providing them many stories to tell their family and friends.

Eventually Herschel's work would lead him to Indianapolis Indiana where Sherry would retire.

After her husband's death Byron would become the primary care giver to his Mom even traveling the many miles between Indianapolis and Lexington, KY when she went to stay with her sister Debbie in 2019. Sherry loved her family and had so many close friends.

Monday September 4, 2023 Sherry Hughes passed from this life after a long battle with COPD emphysema and long COVID-19. Sherry leaves behind to mourn her passing her precious, son Byron Hughes (Indianapolis, Indiana), sister Debbie Newman (Lexington, Kentucky) and granddaughter Hannah Hughes (Florida). Also, mourning her loss is her special "babies" James Bailey (Bardstown, Kentucky), Micki Stephens (Lexington, Kentucky) and Tammy Spriggs (Bloomfield, Indiana).

In the weeks leading to her passing Sherry would tell Byron and one of her "baby girls" Tammy Spriggs that she knew God was coming and was going to take her. She kept saying to them over and over that she knew he was coming with a final exclamation "God is so good, isn't He?" Sherry would want her son, grand-daughter, sister and all loved ones to find love and grace with God. Lean on Him in this time and let him ease your hurt.

Visitation for Sherry (Newman) Hughes will begin Friday September 15, 2023 at 6:00pm and all day Saturday September 16, 2023 with Elder Doug Bailey, Elder Chuck Hall and other brothers of Old Regular Baptist officiating.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday September 17,2023 at 2:00 pm in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Arnett Cemetery, Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
