Obituary

Sarah Jean Newman Hall of Hi Hat, Kentucky died peacefully in her sleep on April 27, 2021. Sarah, daughter of Willard Riley Newman and Sylvia Hall Newman, was born along with her twin brother, Willis, at her family home in Hi Hat, Kentucky on November 9, 1945.

 

She was the wife of David Eugene Hall of Hi Hat, KY (originally from Weeksbury, KY). She was the mother of Brian David Hall (Amy) of Lexington, KY and Crystal Cheri Hall Bryan (Jason) of League City, TX. She was the grandmother of Alyvia Hall. She was the sister of Veroncia Lee Harmon of Dade City, FL, Willard Ramon Newman (Emma) of Wartburg, TN, Nell Newman Stidham of Circleville, OH, Glenda Newman Johnson of Versailles, KY, James Dewey Newman (Elva) of Paris, KY, She was the aunt of Terry Harmon (Sue), Teresa Chervus (Rod), Greg Rackley, Rocky Stidham (Linda), Steve Harmon, (Kim), Jennifer Harrod (Kim), the late Jesse Newman, Kellye Conley (John), Stephanie Webb (Jim), Jamie Stephens (Theron), Rosalyn Valdez (Greg), Tad Newman (the late Missie Newman), Prudence Daniell (Rob), Tyra Evans (Jeff), Eric Johnson (Lesley), Tyler Newman (Robin), and LeAnne Morrow (Kevin) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

 

Sarah, a 1964 graduate of Wheelwright High School, worked at the Hi Hat, Kentucky Post Office for 42 years, first as an assistant to her mother, Postmaster Sylvia Hall Newman, and later as the postmaster herself. She made the best fried chicken in Kentucky. She gave generously to others, and she cried easily for others.

 

Sarah was preceded in death by her father, Riley, her mother, Sylvia, her father-in-law, Julius, her mother-in-law, Ruby, her sister, Phyllis, her brother-in-law, Charles, her brother, Harold, her sister-in-law, Georgia, her twin brother, Willis, her brother-in-law, Arnold, her brother-in-law, Troy, her brother-in-law, Berlin, her nephew, Jesse, and her great-nephew Dane, and her great-nephew Preston.

 

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, KY, with James Tackett and Don Fraley Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery, Hi Hat, KY, visitation is from 5 until 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
