Russell Jacobs

Russell Jacobs, age 97, of Pikeville, KY, widower of Bonnie Jean Daniels Jacobs, died Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his residence. He was born May 2, 1922 in Raven, KY a son of the late Dan and Missouri Slone Jacobs. Russell was a retired coal miner, having worked for Turner Elkhorn Mining Co., a UMWA member, a life member of the Betsy Layne DAV (Chapter 169), and a Ordained Regular Baptist Minister since 1950. He was a member of the Little Salem Old Regular Baptist Church where he was also a honorary moderator.

       He is survived by two sons, Joe (Beatrice) Jacobs, and Paul (Carolyn) Jacobs, all of PIkeville, one daughter, Pam (Gordon) Boyd, Dana, KY, three brothers; Thurman (Ann) Jacobs, and Bill (Sue) Jacobs, all of Thomasville, GA, Gary Jacobs, Indianapolis, IN,  one sister; Anna Rose Tanner, Thomasville, GA, six grandchildren; Barry and Tarry Boyd, Joe Byron (MaShawna) Jacobs, Steven Kyle Jacobs, Melissa Renee (Chester) Keathley, nine great grandchildren; Doug, James, Taylor, Trista, Aaron, Chelesa, Mariana, Isabella, Sophia and three great great grandchildren; Kashton, Watson and Faith.

      In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Ernest and Gaylan Jacobs, four sisters; Vivian Jacobs, Delores Novak, Gertie Adams and RueFay Jacobs, and one grandson; Jerry Douglas Boyd.

       Funeral service for Russell Jacobs will be conducted Monday, March 16, 2020 at 1 PM in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with the Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements. Visitation is after 5 PM Saturday and all day Sunday, with Church Service at 7 PM Sunday, at Hall Funeral Home.
