Ronald Gene McKinney age 76 of Betsy Layne, KY passes from this life on January 21, 2023, at Pikeville Medical Center of Pikeville, KY. He was born on July 20, 1946 to the late Oliver McKinney & Margaret Keathley McKinney.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne Bryant Davis, son, David Ray York, grandparents, several uncles and aunts.
He is survived by his wife, Sonja Carol Castle McKinney (47 years), Betsy Layne, KY, one daughter, Mara Ann McKinney, Betsy Layne, KY, one grandson, Marshall York (Hallie) Nicholasville, KY, one grand dog, Chance Barkley McKinney, Betsy Layne, KY.
He was a member of the Betsy Layne Free Will Baptist Church, Betsy Layne, KY. He was a member of the Master’s Men of the Betsy Layne Free Will Baptist Church, Betsy Layne, KY. He was a Vietnam Veteran, SP5 US Army & served 2 years of service, 1 year being in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the DAV. He was a member of the NRA.
He was retired from the CSX Railroad of Shelbiana, KY where he was a track man for 37 years.
He enjoyed spending time with family & friends. He loved watching western tv shows, old tv shows, Alaskan shows, Andy Griffith, Duck Dynasty & Swamp People. He loved using his iPad/Facebook. He loved to be outside in the summertime.
He will be loved & missed by all who knew him.
