Rebecca Bentley, age 78, of Ypsilanti, MI, passed away on June 18, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on January 16, 1948, in McDowell, KY, to Roy and Alma (Newsome) Tackett. After her high school years, she attended school and began her family. Rebecca worked as a registered nurse, caring for her patients with her kind spirit. She loved to cook and garden. And her cooking was unsurpassed. She was an excellent mother and adored her grandchildren, with her motherly spirit pouring into her grandkids. Rebecca also loved to quilt and crochet. She attended Ypsilanti Old Regular Baptist Church in Canton, and she was a woman of faith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Larry Bently of Ypsilanti, MI, her daughter, Elizabeth (Anthony) Craig of Ypsilanti, MI, her grandchildren, Heather (Paul) Stasa of Willis, MI, Courtney (Hayden) Denslow of Stanwood, MI, her siblings, Freddie (Jacqueline) Tackett of Garden, MI, and Carol Struges of England, grandchildren, Tony and Johnny Stasa and Reese and Riley Denslow, her niece, Callie (Thomas) Grayson of Noblesville, IN, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Sharon Tackett.
A visitation will take place at Ypsilanti Old Regular Baptist Church, 5668 Denton Road, Canton, MI, 48188 on Sunday, June 21, from 2 pm until 8 pm, and an hour visitation on Monday June 22, 2026, from 11 am until the time of service of 12 pm with Pastor Danny Adams officiating. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church (Indian Bottom Association), McDowell, KY with burial to follow in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, McDowell, KY. visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, Wednesday, at the church.
