Raymond Lawson

Raymond Lawson, age 89, of Garrett, KY, husband of Peggy Hicks Lawson, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the McDowell ARH, McDowell, KY.  He was born July 17, 1937 in Turkey Creek, Garrett, KY, a son of the late Humbert and Anise Moore Lawson.  He was a member and former moderator of Stone Coal Old Regular Baptist Church, a US Army Korean War Veteran, he retired from maintenance from the Floyd County Board of Education and Potter Medical Clinic.

In addition to his wife; Peggy, he is survived by one son; Timothy Lawson, Garrett, KY, two daughters; Tena (Ron) Noble, Garrett, KY and Tonya (Paul) Lafferty, Prestonsburg, KY, one brother; Sonny Lawson, LaPorte, IN, one sister; Yvonda Hand, LaPorte, IN seven grandchildren; Sarah (Jace), Melissa (Ben), Evan (Justin), Dillon (Emily), Dalton (Ashleigh), Aaron (Kaitlan) and Austin (Kennedy), fifteen great grandchildren; Brynlee, Emmy, Maddox, Maci, Mia, Colin, Dax, Kasyn, Ava, Brantley, Jaxon, Renleigh, Hudson, Zayden and Krew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; Richard, Orville, Earl, Fieldry and Ivel Lawson, four sisters; Dixie Lawson Conley Tuttle, Barbara Hicks, Judy Lawson and Lexie Lawson.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Stone Coal Old Regular Baptist Church, Garrett, KY, burial will follow in the Granville Turner Cemetery, Turkey Creek, Garrett, KY.  Military Honors will be conducted by Chapter 128 DAV, Minnie, KY.  Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday and all day Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, with service Saturday evening at 7 p.m.  Visitation will be again Sunday, July 26 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at Stone Coal Old Regular Baptist Church.
