Quention Short

            Quention Short, age 80 of McDowell, KY, husband of Debra "Debbie" Hamilton Short, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. He was born August 3, 1945 in Wheelwright, KY, a son of the late Mitchell and Bertha Slone Short. He was a member of the McDowell First Baptist Church, where he was also a member of the Choir.

            Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Jamie (Ryan) Jones, Frankfort, KY, Chandra (Brandon) Traylor, Spottswood, VA, Mary Beth (Adam) Fox, Hattiesburg, MS; three brothers: Hershel Short, Mansfield, OH, Donald and Gary Short both of Plymouth, OH; six grandchildren: Phoebey Poynter, Haylee Jones, Gavin Jones, Owen Traylor, Annie Traylor and Riggs Traylor.

            In addition to his parents, Quention was preceded in death by two brothers: Mitchell Ray and Tommy Short and two sisters: Glenna Short and Eloise Hamilton.

            Funeral service will be conducted Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, KY with Dr. C. B. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbury Hall Cemetery, Frasure's Creek, McDowell, KY and visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home.
