Mary Lou (May) Spradlin

Mary Lou Spradlin, age 95, of Stanville, KY, widow of Hershel Spradlin, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY.  She was born December 9, 1929 in May Br. of Magoffin Co., KY, to the late Hollie Burns and Erma Wayne Kelly May.  Mary Lou was a member of the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church and a retired school teacher.

Mary Lou met Hershel Spradlin in 1949 and they married a year later on August 5, 1950.  To this union were born two children; Linda Spradlin Beeler and her husband Buddy, Pikeville, KY and David Wayne Spradlin and his wife Sherry, Stanville, KY, four grandchildren; Preston (Misty) Spradlin, Wes Simon, Mary Elizabeth (Frank) Verducci and Forrest Benjamin Beeler, three great grandchildren; Bentley Scott, Aubrey Lynn and Mary Evelyn.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sister; Kathryn May Carpenter.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 25. 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church, with Tracy Patton, Barry Clark and Shadd Walters officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY, visitation is from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.

Serving as pallbearers will be; Preston Spradlin, Wes Simon, Forrest Benjamin Beeler, Frank Verducci, Brent Scalf and Kenny Bryant.
