Linda Carol (Butler) Mitchell

Linda Carol Mitchell, age 73 of Ligon, Kentucky, wife of Neil J. Mitchell, passed from this life on Monday, April 29th 2024 at Pikeville Medical Center. Linda was born September 18th 1950 at Beaver Valley Hospital in Martin, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James Butler and Mossie Case Butler. She grew up in Stumbo Holler in Drift, KY. On July 8th 1976, she married her husband Neil in Wise, Va. She was a member of the Drift Freewill Baptist Church.

Linda was a homemaker, an amazing cook, owner of Jett's Pizza, a lifelong dog lover who loved to travel, a crafter, a timeless beauty, admirer of all things sparkly, a gracious hostess, and a constant caregiver and problem solver for her family whom she loved so much. She had a playful sense of humor & the sweetest laugh. Can't forget the display of Christmas lights each winter that could put Gatlinburg's to shame.

In addition to her husband Neil, Linda is survived by her brother Gary Ray (Sandy) Butler of Auburn, Indiana, sister Shirley Ann Carter of Lexington, Kentucky, lifelong best friend and cousin Patsy Gearheart, as well as several other close family members including neices and nephews whom she loved dearly:
Michael Paul Butler, Christopher Turner, Ginger Stumbo, Nicole Lynn, Michelle Renee Butler, Cari Ann Carter, James Curtis Carter, Jessica Erin Mitchell, Samantha Jo Stumbo, Kendra Nicole Hall & Bethany Lauren Thornsberry.

Welcoming her to heaven were sisters Saundra Kay "Katy" Turner and Nora Kathrine "Deaner" Howard, sister in law Mitzi Lynn Hughes, several friends, family members and of course all of her & Neil's beloved dogs.

A special memorial honoring Linda's life will be on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel. 

In lieu of flowers, Linda has requested that donations be made to the Floyd County Animal Shelter or animal shelter of your choosing, in her honor.
