John Richard Porter

John Richard Porter, age 78, of Stanville, KY, husband of Brenda Hicks Porter, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY.  He was born July 13, 1947 in Pikeville, KY, the son of Betty Hall Porter, Pikeville, KY and the late John M. Porter.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Betsy Layne and a self employed business man, working in the car business for over 50 years.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by one son; John Martin (Bailey) Porter II, Dayton, OH, one daughter; Leslie Porter (Brian) Nelson, Lowmansville, KY, one sister; Susan (Ronnie) Wallen, Stanville, KY and 5 grandchildren; Lauren Nelson, Lindsey Nelson Blair (Mason), Jasper Porter, John Richard Porter II, and Teddy Porter.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral service will be conducted Monday, October 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Betsy Layne, KY, burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY, visitation is from 6 until 9 p.m. Sunday and from 12:00-2:00 Monday at the church, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
