John Henry Halbert, age 89, of Printer, KY, husband of Linda Sue Slone Halbert, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center, Hazard, KY. He was born October 20, 1934 in Printer, KY, a son of the late James Ervin and Mary Ellen Allen Halbert. He was a retired machinist and welder, having owned and operated Halbert’s Machine and Welding. John was also a US Army Veteran, a member the AMVETS and Commander of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, two sons; Mark Halbert, Langley, KY and John W. (Cheri) Halbert, Langley, KY, four daughters; Tammy (Chris) Moore, Hazel Green, KY, Cheryl Halbert, Printer, KY, Elizabeth Duncan, Richmond, KY and Melissa (Tommy) Covey, Lexington, KY, one sister; Marietta Reynolds, Printer, KY, 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Joe Ed and Clayborn Halbert, two sisters; Myrtle Parsons and Jacqueline DeRossett.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, with Blaine DePoy officiating. Burial to follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, KY, visitation is from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
