James Wincell "Jimmy" Turner, age 87, of Hueysville, KY, husband of Sharon Slone Turner, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the Prestonsburg Health Care Center, Prestonsburg, KY. He was born November 5, 1938 in Garrett, KY, a son of the late James A. "Tad" and Dolly Terry Turner. He was a member of the Hueysville Church of Christ, he was a former teacher and basketball coach at Wayland High School and former owner of Waltrum Engineering.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son; James Robert (Shelia) Turner, Rush, KY, one daughter; Melissa (Dan) Moore, Hueysville, KY, one brother; Steven Turner, Garrett, KY, one sister; Mary Turner Collette, Marysville, OH, five grandchildren; Dylan (Michaela) Combs, Matthew (Lindsay) Combs, Kasey Moore, Tracey (Josh) McGuire and Nikita (Bradley) Maschke, four great grandchildren; Liam and Taylor Mashke, Finley and Faylan McGuire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife; Barbara Ann Johnson Turner, two brothers; Chester Douglas Turner and Gary Chaffins, two sisters; Nicky Turner Triplett and Brenda Turner Cook.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hueysville Church of Christ, with Chester Ray Varney officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Hueysville, KY, visitation is from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
