Jewel Conn

Vivian Jewel Conn, age 92, of Harold, widow of Dean Conn passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at her residence.

She was born December 28, 1928 in Banner, KY, the sixth of eight children born to the late Jack and Nancy Akers Sellards.  Jewel attended Betsy Layne High School where she was active in the Glee Club and often preformed as a soloist, she was also a Cheerleader for the Boys' Varsity Basketball Team.  After high school she attended the Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, OH, before marrying her high school sweetheart. 

Jewel and Dean lived all their married life in Harold, KY and for several years owned and operated Conn's Grocery.  She also worked with Watson's, Peebles and Goody's retiring at the age of 84.  She was also a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

Jewel is survived by her four daughters who each inherited their mother's love for music; Sherry L. Conn, Louisville, KY, Cathy (Michael) Potter, Lexington, KY, Dena (Jack) Gibson, Harold, KY and Melody Barnette Cocoa Beach, FL, one brother; Jack Buford (Peggy) Sellards, Corbin, KY one sister; Georgean Cecil, Stanville, KY, eight grandchildren; Chris (Beth) Potter, Shannon (Jessica) Potter, Kyle (Christy) Potter, Chase (Kylee) Gibson, Brett (Sarah) Gibson, Ryan (Michael) Barnette, Lindsey (Ty) Franklin and Cory Barnette, fifteen great grandchildren; Caiden and Connor Gibson, Aric and Todd Neeley, Emma Grace, Gavin, Caroline, Graham, Grayson and Abbey Potter, Tyra, Hayden, Kali and Mila Franklin and Joshaun Barnette.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; Graham and Dave Sellards and three sisters; Aileen Hall, Elsie Lykins and Sylvia Hall.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel.  Entombment will follow in the Conn Family Cemetery, Harold, KY, visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
