Jean (Slone) Wells

Alma Jean Slone Wells, age 91, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of Sammie E. Wells, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. She was born January 13, 1933 in Hi Hat, KY a daughter of the late Wade and Pinna Mae Meade Slone. Alma was a retired school teacher and member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.

   She is survived by two sons, Sammie Wade (Elizabeth) Wells, Wilmington, NC, Douglas E. (the late Fran) Wells, Cleveland, TN, two daughters; Bernadine (the late Babe) Isaac, Martin, KY, Belinda (William) Amburgey, Lexington, KY, one brother; Meredith D. (Genevee) Slone, Hi Hat, KY, one sister-in-law; Carla Slone, Jeremiah, KY, four grandchildren; Racheal Emily (Jason) Greer, Sara Marie (Eric) Hamilton, Laura-Jean Isaac, Joseph Hunter Wells, and five great grandchildren; Madison Hamilton, Slade Hamilton, Kaydence Greer, Avery Greer and Tristan Greer.

  In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers. Gerald B. and Sherrill S. Slone, one daughter-in-law; Fran Wells and one son-in-law, Babe Issac.

   Funeral service for Alma Jean Wells will be conducted Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 11 AM in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin.Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery, Hi Hat, KY. Visitation is after 6 PM Friday and all day Saturday at Hall Funeral Home.
