Jay Shepherd, age 85, of Gunlock, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at his residence. He was born November 27, 1939 in Gunlock, KY, a son of the late Harlan and Kate Neeley Shepherd. He was a member of the Brushy Fork Missionary Baptist Church and a retired carpenter having worked for Daylight Screen and Endicott Church Furniture. He also enjoyed playing music and played at Front Porch Pickin at the MAC every Friday he was able.
He is survived by three children; Monique, Tangie and Brennin Shepherd, two brothers; Chandler (Ilant) Shepherd & Delmer (Lois) Shepherd; three sisters: Charity Shepherd, Melvia Shepherd & Bobbie (Bob) Boyd, his special friend and companion; Darcus Shepherd, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Farley and Glenn Shepherd, two sisters; Rose Whitaker and Fredia Alton.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, April 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brushy Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Gunlock, KY, with Abe Douglas Wireman officiating. Burial will follow in the Kate Shepherd Cemetery, Gunlock, KY, visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Friday at the church, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
