James Arville Duff

James Arville Duff, age 92, of Hueysville, KY, husband of the late Elizabeth Mae Childers Duff, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his residence.  He was born January 2, 1931 in Pineville, KY, a son of the late James and Creddie "Ted" Lawson Duff.  He was an elder and member of the Hueysville Church of Christ and a US Air Force, Korean War Veteran.

Arville was a retired merchant, having owned and operated Duff's Grocery, Right Beaver Food Market and True Value Hardware, he was a former Probation and Parole Officer, a member of the James W. Alley Masonic Lodge, the DAV, he was a former Floyd County Board of Education Member for over 20 years and also served as Vice Chairman.  The James A. Duff Elementary School was named in his honor.

Survivors include three daughters; Dr. Reva Tackett Guiler, Lexington, KY, Rita Ann (Larry Joe) Osborne, Hueysville, KY and Karen Rene (Dewey) Bentley, Hueysville, KY, one brother; Freeman Duff, Nicholasville, KY, one sister-in-law; Pat Duff, six grandchildren; Matt Guiler, Erin (Freddy) Acevedo, Zachary Guiler, Cody (Jen) Guiler, Dr. Kyra Michelle Osborne, Dr. Kortney Rae Osborne Brown, five great grandchildren; Joaquin, Levi, Cameron, Niko and Eden James.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by four brothers; Birchell Duff, James Buford, James Woodford and James Ervil Duff, one granddaughter; Olivia Nikole Hall, two sons-in-law; Denzil Ray Hall and Dr. David Scott Guiler and one grandson-in-law; James Edward Brown.

Graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at East Gate Memorial Gardens, Eastern, KY, with Chester Varney officiating.  Military Honors will be conducted by DAV Chapter 128, Minnie, KY.
