James Oliver "J.O." Dingus, age 93, of Martin, KY, widower of Shirley Miller Dingus, died Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Langley, KY. He was born December 7, 1930 in Martin, KY a son of the late Kelly and Annie Flannery Dingus. James Oliver Dingus was a retired School Teacher and Principal in the Floyd County School System having served for 42 years.
He is survived by one son, Tommy L. (Renita) Dingus, Prestonsburg, KY, one daughter; Sherry Sue (Stuart) Robinson, Langley, KY, one brother; Colin Kelly Dingus, Martin, KY, four sisters; Naomi Combs, Mary Lois Baldridge, Yvonne Mosley, all of Martin, KY, Iona Hinkle, Wadswoth, OH, seven grandchildren; Jared McKinney, Zachary Oliver Dingus, Katie Ann Hearn, Jeni Lynn Meyer, Brandie Yates, Clinton Todd Turner, Leigh-Ella Daniels, and seven great grandchildren: Ruslan, Scarlett, Ellie, Misha, Emmitt, Reese and Lennon.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one son, Kelly Joe Dingus, four brothers; Ralph Waldo Dingus, Wendell Winfred Dingus, George Edward Dingus, Adrian Allen Dingus, and two sisters; Alka Smith and Ruthee Shelton.
Funeral service for James Oliver Dingus will be conducted Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 1 PM in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Dale McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Dingus Cemetery, Martin, KY. Visitation is after 6 PM Friday at Hall Funeral Home.
