Howard Martin

On Wednesday, August 29, HOWARD MARTIN, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 86. Howard was born on May 12, 1932 in Gethel, Kentucky to Harin and Pearl Martin. He was one of twelve siblings. He met his wife, Rubie, at the age of 19 who was the love of his life and was married to for over 63 years. Howard retired from Whirlpool in 1966 and moved to Glen Burnie where he worked as a Salesman. In 1983 he and Rubie moved to the Ocean City area where they became owners of a 7-Eleven store.

Howard is survived by his wife, Rubie, three children -Wendale Martin(Mary), Lloyd Martin(Monica) and Janet Biggs (Mark), three grandsons -Matthew Latshaw and Christopher and Steven Martin and three siblings-Eugene Martin, Ireane Barr and Joyce Walden. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana, in 2011.

Since retirement, Howard was known to be a busy man whether it was traveling, enjoying the outdoors and his hobbies of gardening, hunting, or fishing or just piddling around. He loved the mountains and spending time in West Virginia. Howard was a proud grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. Howard will be remembered as someone who greeted others with a big smile and he was infamous for his “thumbs up” gesture especially when it came to photos.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 12:00pm at Hall Funeral Home located at 331 KY Route 122 Martin, KY 41649 where a viewing will be held 2 hours prior. Interment will follow at Davidson Memorial Garden.
