Hope (Slone) Blackburn

Hope Slone Blackburn, age 88, of Stanville, KY, widow of Curtis Blackburn, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020 in the Riverview Health Care Center, Prestonsburg, KY. She was born November 10, 1931 in Fishtrap, KY, a daughter of the late Frank and Christine Fletcher Slone. She was a retired Floyd County school teacher at Betsy Layne, a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and the KY Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by one son: Lance (Ann) Blackburn, one daughter; Vicki Blackburn, both of Stanville, KY, one sister; Margaret Justice, Pikeville, four grandchildren; Christina Elizabeth and Nathaniel Curtis Blackburn, Hannah Rebecca Hope Messer and Jason Scott Hatcher, one great grandchild; Lucy Elizabeth Messer and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a loving church family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Jack Lyndon Blackburn, four sisters; Viola Wright, Nancy Lois Slone, Gladys Barfield and Ruth DeSchepper.

A private family funeral and visitation is scheduled with burial to follow in the Blackburn Family Cemetery, Stanville, KY.
