Helen Virginia (Little) Turner

Helen Little Turner, 92, of Floyd County, Kentucky passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025. She was surrounded by love and support from friends and family during her final days.

Born on November 13, 1932 in Floyd County, Kentucky, Helen was the daughter of Oliver and Dortha Little. As one of twelve children, she forged her own path quickly. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and went on to build a life focused on family, education and a passion for finding happiness in life. As a school principal for over 30 years in Michigan, she placed great importance on learning and not being afraid to fail. She was a longtime member of Southland Christian Church as she spent the last 40 years happily retired in Lexington. In life, she was a jack of all trades and a master of many.

Helen’s fierce spirit was evident in her love for her country and Fox News, her Sound of Music sleepovers with her grandkids, her adventures at their condo in Sarasota, playing bridge with dear friends and most recently, actively trading on the stock market. She found joy and adventure in life’s big moments and small ones and encouraged her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to dream big. She was witty and never missed the opportunity to crack a joke. Once she closed the book on her educational career, she found a love for entrepreneurship – from opening a travel agency to running her own candy and coffee shop.

She is survived by her son, Craig Turner (Madonna Turner), daughter, Dottie Findley (Rob Findley), her sister, Myrtle Dorton, her four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy J Turner, her parents and ten of her eleven siblings.

A celebration of life will be held at Malone’s Banquet Center on Sunday September 7th from 2-4pm at 3373 Tates Creek Rd, Lexington, Kentucky 40502. All who knew and loved Helen are welcome to attend. Come and be with family and friends as she wished.
