Gwendolyn June (Stumbo) Hammonds

Gwendolyn June Stumbo Hammonds, age 82, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of Harold Hammonds, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in the Riverview Healthcare Center, Prestonsburg, KY. She was born June 15, 1942 in McDowell, KY, a daughter of the late Wayne L. and Eula Storie Stumbo. She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Maytown First Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons: William L. Hammonds, Prestonsburg, KY, Joey S. Hammonds, Prestonsburg, KY, & Shaun (Stephanie) Hammonds, Oil Springs, KY; two daughters: Lena Flanery, Langley, KY, Carla (Ellis) Castle, Colorado Springs, CO; one brother: Nicky (Brenda) Stumbo, McDowell, KY; eleven grandchildren: Joel Castle, Dustin Hammonds, Ryan Hammonds, Alex Hammonds, Thomas Flanery, Jackson Flanery, Julia Flanery, Victoria Crisp, Garrett Hammonds, Wayne Hammonds, Katie Hammonds; along with 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by three brothers; Wayne Stumbo Jr, Danny Stumbo, and Michael David Stumbo; two sisters; Brenda Gail Stumbo, Sandra Nadine Wooten

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 3rd, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, KY with Bob Varney officiating. Burial will follow in the Flanery Family Cemetery, Langley, KY, visitation is after 6:00 pm Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home
