Gregory Cecil Hall
A devoted educator, entrepreneur, and pillar of his community, Gregory Cecil Hall passed away on April 13, 2025 at the age of 76 at The Greg & Noreen Wells Bluegrass Hospice Care Center.
Born on January 12, 1949, in Paintsville, Kentucky, to the late Cecil Hall and Lona (Pet) Prater Hall, Greg was a graduate of the University of Pikeville with a Bachelor's degree in secondary education. He furthered his education at Morehead State University, where he received his Master's in secondary education, and later earned a Rank 1 in secondary education through the University of Kentucky and Morehead State University.
Greg dedicated his life to inspiring generations of students at Betsy Layne High School for 30 years. His passion for education and commitment to his students earned him a lasting impact on many of their careers. As a Professional Instructor, he led a co-op program for senior students, helping them secure jobs in various businesses.
In addition to his teaching career, Greg was a successful business owner of Alpike Motel, Hall's Mobil Home Park, Hall's Auto Sales, and Hall's BP Mart Station, all located in Ivel, Kentucky. He also invested in land projects with his brother, Terry.
Greg's hobbies included collecting antique cars, especially Camaros and Corvettes, and attending car shows and races in Daytona. He was a proud Bobcat and cherished the memories of his high school days.
A newfound connection with the Lord led him to be baptized on September 21, 2024, at Jenny Wiley State Park.
Survivors include his brother, Bryan Terry Hall of Ivel; sister, Debra Jan Hall Rich (Larry) of Cincinnati; and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Lynn Hall.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Tommy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Davidson Memorial Gardens in Ivel, Kentucky.
Rest in peace, Greg. You will be deeply missed, but we look forward to speaking with you again soon.
