George Newton "Papou" Hale, age 71, of David, KY, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, KY. He was born June 4, 1954 in Prestonsburg, KY to the late Henry Clay and Winifred "Penny" Osborne Hale. He was a retired coal miner and farmer.
He is survived by his daughter; Dr. Katherine Leann (Dr. Jonathan Mark) Tackett, Prestonsburg, KY, his partner; Barbara Ratliff Hale, two brothers; Ben (Keane) Hale, Blue River, KY and Jon (Malissa) Hale, Lexington, KY, sister-in-law; Sandy Hale, Mt. Sterling, KY, one granddaughter; Penelope "Penny" Kate Tackett, one grandson; Asher Kyle Tackett, also a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Tommy Hale and Lt Col. James Henry Hale, two sisters; Kay Alice Hale and Carla Hale.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Hale Family Cemetery, Blue River, KY, visitation is from 6 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
