Forrest Dean Hall, age 87, of Grethel, KY, widower of Virginia "Pearl" Morrison Hall, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 in the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. He was born April 10, 1935 in Grethel, KY, a son of the late William J. and Maudie Vance Hall. He was a member of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church, an avid gardener, enjoyed hunting and fishing, enjoyed going to church with his wife Pearl and was a 50 plus year Mason, belonging to Wheelwright Lodge No. 889. . Through his working career, he was an equipment operator, grocery store operator, coal operator, truck driver and also a butcher.
He is survived by two daughters: Margaret (Richard) Warwick, Punta Gorda, FL, Diana (Greg) Friend, Grethel, KY; one son: Gregory (Janet) Hall, Hurricane, WV; one brother: Denzil Ray (Donna) Hall, McDowell, KY; seven grandchildren: Deidri "Dee" Nanna (Larry), Erin Winans, Arthur D. Hall (Kay), Zechariah "Zeke" Hall (Nikki), Shaila Evans (Caleb), Whitney Friend, Jordan Friend (Courtney); thirteen great grandchildren: Madison Mooney (Cameron), Brady Hines, Grace Hines, Jenna Mayse, Adam Lee, Alex Campbell, Adrianna Hall, Nolan Hall, Nova Hall, Norah Hall, Melanie Lee, Owen Friend, Luke Friend, Logan Friend; three great-great grandchildren: Liana Mooney, Landyn Mooney and Liza Kay Mooney.
In addition to his wife and parents, Forrest was preceded in death by eight brothers: Lovel, Virgil, Cecil, Richard, Delano "Pood", John, Curt and James K. "Jim" Hall; five sisters: Eloise Pratt, Delphia Diggs, Octavia Akers, Gertrude Sturgill, and Effie Newsome, one grandson; Christopher Lee and one great grandson; Alex Buckner.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, KY with Jared Arnett and Barry Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery, Grethel, KY and visitation will be after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday and all day Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home, Masonic service Tuesday at 7 p.m.
