Emogene (McCarty) Cooley

      Emogene McCarty Cooley, age 93, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of James Cooley, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at her residence. She was born April 22, 1930 in Wheelwright, KY, a daughter of the late Wayne and Daisy Harris McCarty. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.

     She is survived by one son: Rick Cooley and his wife Elizabeth, Lawrenceburg, KY; one daughter: Theresa Garrett, Prestonsburg, KY; one brother: Douglas McCarty, Keystone Heights, FL; one sister: Phyllis Waddles, Prestonsburg, KY; seven grandchildren: Roy Cooley, Cindy Wesley, David Cooley, Corey Cooley, Melissa Mullins, Jamie Garrett, Kevin Garrett and sixteen great grandchildren.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Emogene was preceded in death by three brothers: Ronnie, Wallace and Romeo McCarty and three sisters: Christine Bailey, Faye Moscript and Judy Preston.

     Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. with church services nightly beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, KY.  Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spurlock Old Regular Baptist Church, 3542 Spurlock Creek Rd., Prestonsburg, KY 41653 with a short visitation immediately preceding the funeral beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, KY.
