Emma Ruth Mullins

Emma Ruth VanHoose Mullins, 87, of Ashland, passed away Friday morning, September 29, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Mullins was born February 14, 1936 in Johnson County, KY, a daughter of the late Arthur and Dixie Mae McKenzie VanHoose.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband Joe R. Mullins and three brothers James, Bruce and George VanHoose.
Emma was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Ashland where she formerly taught Sunday school and helped with vacation bible school. She was a 1955 graduate of Wayland High School in Floyd County and a loving homemaker to her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Susan Thompson and husband Phil of Ashland, grandchildren Rusty (LaNae) Thompson, Kayla (Casey) Fletcher and great grandchildren Haiden, Addie, Oakley and Garrett.
Additional family includes her brother and sister-in-law Billy Joe and Mary Lou VanHoose of Waverly, OH, which the family would like to recognize for their continued love and support that was always provided throughout this difficult time, special ladies Kim Pierce, Sherry Barker and the Hospice nurses and care givers for their unwavering love and support.
Funeral services will be held 12:30pm, Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Pastor Jeff Ferguson. Visitation will be prior to services on Tuesday beginning at 11:00am.
Burial will follow services at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.
