Elizabeth Ann Salisbury Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky, 90, passed away on February 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. Ann was born on February 26, 1934, in Printer, Kentucky.
Ann was a longtime member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church. Ann was a dedicated mother, Christian, an avid Iover of flowers, books, music, her family, and the Kentucky Wildcats. Ann was devoted to the Hindman Settlement School and its development and purpose. She remained joyful and graceful through all walks of life, and she loved well. Ann could be found behind a camera or making albums of her children, grandchildren, whimsical landscapes, and elegant florals - Ann's ability to cherish the beautiful moments and the important things, even in the mundane, was unwavering. She was a fierce advocate for others, her boys, and for strong character.
It was a rarity to see Ann without a smile or a twinkle in her eye and she always had a willing embrace for all. She empowered others to always be kind, be generous, and to do right by your neighbor.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Grayson Johnson, father, William Arthur Salisbury, and her mother, Mildred Spradlin Salisbury. Ann is survived by her brother William Arthur Salisbury (Sandra Lee Salisbury), sister Joyce Daugherty (Ken Daugherty), and her four sons, Michael Grayson Johnson, Dr. Paul Jeffrey Johnson (Jamie Johnson), Ronald Mosey Johnson (Theri Johnson), and William David Johnson (Renee Carney), five grandchildren: Grayson Tyler Johnson (Alexa Arnold), Madeleine Clae Johnson (Jesse Bechtloff), ShelbyAnn Johnson, Hannah Elizabeth Johnson, and Nicholas McKenzie Johnson, and two great-grandchildren: Skadi James Bechtloff and Hank Daniel Johnson.
Private and family only grave site services will be held at Johnson Cemetery #2 in Floyd County, Kentucky, on March 9th, at 2:00PM, with Reverend Mike Powers.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Ann's memory to the Kentucky Educational Television or Knot County Public Library, as Ann was a passionate advocate for literacy and education for all.
