Eileen Wolf Burchett

  Eileen Wolf Burchett, age 96, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of Clyde Burchett, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at her residence. She was born May 28, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late John and Aileen Hein Wolf. Eileen was a founding and life-long member of St. Martha's Catholic Church in Prestonsburg, KY.

  Anyone who knew Eileen knew her for her honesty, her eye for design and fashion, her chocolate chip cookies and apple pies, and her love of family. From a young age, Eileen enjoyed sewing, decorating, and needlework. After attending Millinery School, she used her creativity and design talents to start a hat-making business. Later on, Eileen applied these talents as bookkeeper and buyer for Clyde Burchett Jewelry Store, Prestonsburg. She was an active member of the Woman’s Club, P.E.O., St. Martha’s Altar Society, and The Bridge Club. Eileen always gave back to others through her artistic abilities, such as by working diligently to make crafts each year for the church’s Christmas Bazaar fundraiser.

  Eileen loved her family deeply. They were her greatest source of pride and joy. She is survived by three sons: Randall Clyde (Martha) Burchett, Dr. Thomas John (Cindy) Burchett, Dr. Blake Robert (Becky) Burchett, eight grandchildren: John Burchett, Mark Burchett, Carlye Thacker, Ph.D., Chase Burchett, Dr. Mary Sheppard, Dr. Andrew Burchett, Molly Burchett, Ph.D., Michael Burchett, and twelve great grandchildren.

  In addition to her husband and parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her three sisters, Carolyn (Bluey) Wolf, Marilyn (Pinky) Waugh, and Joan (Dut) Gondringer, as well as her grandson, Adam Burchett.

  Visitation for Eileen W. Burchett will be Monday, April 10, 2023 from 6 until 9 PM at the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, KY. The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Martha's Catholic Church, Prestonsburg, KY. Burial will follow on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 12:30 PM at Calvary Cemetery, Lexington, KY.
