Donald V. Horne

Donald V. Horne, age 77, of Lackey, KY, husband of Freeda G. Horne, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center, Hazard, KY.  He was born November 4, 1946 in Lackey, KY, a son of the late Woodrow and Clarice Meadows Horne.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Garrett, KY, the Garrett DAV Chapter 128, the American Legion, a US Army Vietnam Veteran and former owner of Right Beaver Ready Mix.

In addition to his wife, Freeda, he is survived by two daughters; Rhonda S. Horne Begley, Lackey, KY and Tonya K. Horne (Michael) Williams, Prestonsburg, KY, three brothers; Roger (Brenda) Horne, Wayland, Woodrow (Brenda) Horne Jr., Ashland, KY and Jennings Ray (Faye) Horne, Kokomo, IN, two sisters; SaRonda (Leo) Gayheart, Richmond, KY and Georgia Miller, Kokomo, IN, three grandchildren; Alex Joseph Begley, Barrett Michael Williams and Baylor Alyse Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law; Troy Miller.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Blaine DePoy, Randy Osborne and Joe Owens officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, KY, visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.  Military Honors will be provided by Minnie DAV Chapter 128.

Serving as Pallbearers will be: Alex Begley, Barrett Williams, Dustin Gayheart, Matthew Gayheart, Sean Horne, Joseph Ryan Owens, Justin Jacobs, Roger Horne Jr., Greg Horne, Jason Baker, Kevin Moore, Byron Scott and Jacob Baker.  

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Michael Williams, Joe Owens, Bob Caudill, Ben Hamilton, Chuck Everidge, Rodney Martin, Kent Martin, David "Acie" Shepherd, Devon Prater, BJ Aldrich, Cecil "Randy" Watkins, Kenneth Baker, Walter Baker, Moose Baker, Jeff Smith and Cecil Watkins.
