Denzil Ray Turner, age 67, of Garrett, KY, widower of Peggy Lynn Turner, died Friday October 1, 2021 in the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. He was born April 1, 1954 in Garrett, a son of the late Cledis and Sarah Moore Turner. Denzil was a retired coal miner, having worked for Consol mining.
He is survived by one son, Steve (Nicole) Turner, Garrett, one daughter; Amy Turner, Valdosta, GA, three brothers; Vernil Turner, Garrett, Sherb Turner, Berlin Heights, OH, Glenn Turner, Louisville, six sisters; Jeanette Hoover and Linda Prater, both of Wayne, MI, Violet Rowe, McHenry, IL, Fonetta Boyd and Lana Leach, both of Vermillion, OH, Dana Collins, Drift, KY, three grandchildren; Zachary Turner, Makenzi Brewer, Trey Turner, and two great grandchildren; Rhett Brewer, and Charleigh Brewer.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ancil, Alen, Atwell, and Ervil Turner, and one sister; Iwanna Moore.
Funeral service for Denzil Ray Turner will be conducted Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 2 PM in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Rick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Harry Lee Moore Cemetery, Turkey Creek-Garrett, KY. Visitation is after 6 PM Saturday at Hall Funeral Home.
