Franklin Delano May, age 85, of Allen, KY, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on March 4, 1938 to the late Banner and Josephine Johns May.
He was a member of the Allen Baptist Church, a former heavy equipment operator, owner and operator of May Metal Company, Allen, KY and a lifetime member and Past Master of John W. Hall Masonic Lodge, No. 950 F&AM, Martin, KY.
Delano is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Carol Jo Clark May, two daughters; Connie May McKinney (Cheyenne) Allen and Jessica Collins Holcomb (Scott), Prestonsburg; seven grandchildren; Courtney McKinney Vanderpool, Caleb Holcomb (Stefani), Chris Holcomb (Chloe), K.P. Hastings (Megan), Chase Hastings, Cameron Little and Karleigh White, six great-grandchildren; Alexis Vanderpool, Kaylie Vanderpool, Kinsley Claire McKinney, Harper Raye McKinney, Harlow June Hastings and Way Holcomb, sisters-in-law; Eileen Blair Banks (James), Elizabeth Kinzer (Terry), Donna Clark, nieces, Amy Banks Jervis (Scottie), Wanda McGuire Duncan (Earl), Suzanne Kinzer Hyden and Teri Lee Kinzer (Barry) Crum.
Along with his parents, Delano was preceded in death by his first wife; Patty Blair May, his son; Randy May, brother; Billy Johns May, sister-in-law; Ernestine May, nieces; Patty Ann and Billie Jo May and great nephew; William May.
Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, at 6 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, KY, and continue all day on Thursday. A Masonic service will be conducted Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Allen Baptist Church, Allen, KY, with Dwayne Raines officiating. Burial will follow in the May Cemetery, Allen, KY, Mr. May will lie in state from 12 noon until the time of service Friday at the church, arrangements under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
