Clara Jean (Sparkman) Prater

 Clara Jean Sparkman Prater, age 87, of Hueysville, KY, widow of Nelson Prater, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. She was born April 24, 1935 in Hueysville, a daughter of the late Willie and Sadie Stephens Sparkman. Clara was a member of the Community Baptist Church, Hueysville, and retired Owner and Manager of P & H Packing, Hueysville.

  She is survived by two sons, Dwight Prater and Dave (Clova) Prater, all of Hueysville, one brother; Carvin Sparkman, Hueysville, three sisters;  Jody Sparkman and Alene Prater, both of Hueysville, Imogene Griffith, Cridersville, OH, seven grandchildren; Adam, Bobbie, Carrie, Malinda, Lisa, B.J., Kim, a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

  In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Sue Prater, and two grandchildren; Dwight Brandon Prater, and Derika Nicole.

  Funeral service for Clara Jean Sparkman Prater will be conducted Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 1 PM in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Dolvin Ratliff and Larry Collett officiating. Burial will follow in the Nelson Prater Family Cemetery, Visitation is from 4 PM until 10 PM Saturday at Hall Funeral Home.
