Christina VanDine (Newsome) Simpson

   Christina VanDine Simpson, age 79, of Auxier, KY, wife of Phillip Richard Simpson, and widow of Lee VanDine, died Monday, March 27, 2023 in the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center, Hazard, KY. She was born April 22, 1943 in McDowell, KY a daughter of the late Ralph and Lula Reynolds Newsome. Christina was a retired busineswoman and member of the First Baptist Church Irene Cole Memorial, Prestonsburg, KY.

   She is survived by two sons, Timothy Lee (Shawn) VanDine. Georgetown, KY, Tony (Cristen) VanDine, Auxier, KY, one brother; Ralph Newsome Jr., McDowell, KY, four sisters; Jean Grimm, Barbara Tuttle and Brenda Henson, all of Prestonsburg, KY, Dottie Spradlin, Paintsville, KY, three grandchildren; Ethan Garrett VanDine, Samuel Isiah VanDine, Kinsey Lee VanDine,  great grandchildren; Ellie VanDine, Delanie & Barrett Troxell 

   In addition to her first husband and parents she was preceded in death by four sisters, Alicetene Ward, Mary Lou Walters, Ruth Ann Williams and Vada Sue Savage.

    Funeral service for Christina VanDine Simpson will be conducted Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11 AM in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery, Prestonsburg, KY with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements. Visitation is after 6 PM Wednesday and after 10 AM Thursday at Hall Funeral Home.
