Brenda Kay (Layne) Castle

Brenda Kay Layne Castle, age 78, of Banner, KY, wife of the late Jackie Darrell Castle, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at her residence.  She was born April 29, 1946 in Ivel, KY, a daughter of the late Billy Edward “Ed” and Verna Edith Clark Layne.  She was a member of the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church, worked in retail, worked many years at the Big Sandy ADD and also worked as a caregiver.  But most of all she took care of her family as a loving wife, daughter, mom, mamaw and sister.

She is survived by three sons; Darrell Edward (Connie), Deannie (Marlene) and Brandon Lee (Jamie) Castle, one daughter; Jeannie (Kenneth) Case, two sisters; Nellie Jean Layne and Gwendolyn Stratton, ten grandchildren; Corey Castle, Jordon (Heather) Case, Brennan Layne (Hanna) Case, Kendra (Trent) Maynard, Casey (Ellen) Castle, Dakota Sutton, Alex Reed, Nicole (Harley) Quillen, Mitchell Brandt Castle and Lincoln Castle, great grandchildren, Connor, Jaxon, Harper, Layla, Brynlee, Casee, Salem, McKinley, Clark, Kennedy, Blayne, Willow, Amyrah and a set of twins on the way Caroline and Cole.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church, with Barry Clark officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY, visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday and all day Thursday at the church, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
