Bobby Gene Thacker

Bobby Gene Thacker of Ivel, Ky. passed from this earthly life on August 10, 2019. He was born in Pike County Ky., the son of the late Dave and Opal (Goff) Thacker. Bob was also the widower of the late Glenna (Wilson) Thacker whom he married Feb. 12,1971.  They shared 41 years together before her passing. 

Between Bob and Glenna's union were born 4 children:  Scott (Anzie) Thacker of Ivel, KY. Heather (Michelle)Kilpatrick of Jacksonville, FL, Greg (Courtney)Thacker of Toler, KY, and Jeremy (Randa)Thacker of Betsy Layne, KY.

With this union Bob is also survived by his 15 grandchildren whom he loved more than himself: Kayla, Byron (Kristin), and Jaxton Thacker; Ashlee, Kayla, Jase, & Paytn Kilpatrick, and Kyle Meggyes; Hope & Mackenzie Thacker; Kenneth Skeens, Preston (Chelsea)Thacker, Shamron (Christina)Thacker, Sebastian Thacker, and Tyler Thacker whom they raised as their own.  10 Great grandchildren: Bentley Hudson, Cree Johnson, Zyla Kilpatrick, Brayden Cannon; Kiley, Harper, & Piper Thacker; Miracle, Tilyn, & Corvin Thacker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends, who loved him.

In addition to his family, He is survived by  sisters-in-law Lorraine Thacker and Nancy Thacker; and He was survived by a brother Thomas Thacker who shortly passed just hours after Bob's passing.

Other than his parents and wife; Bob was preceded in death by his siblings and in-laws. His sister Mandy (Jimmy) Ramey, a brother Jack Thacker, a sister Bonnie (Junior) Thacker, and a sister-in-law Sybil Thacker. He was also preceded in death by a niece, Bonnie Jean Ramey Tackett. 

Bob was born again in September 2008; when he obeyed the Gospel and was buried in baptism with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bob was a member of the Prestonsburg Church of Christ. Bob was a successful, self-employed owner of Thacker Auto Parts for over 40 years.  Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Who wanted no more than to be with his loving wife whom he truly missed every day. Bob truly became rich upon his passing by receiving his just reward which was laid up in Heaven.

          Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 12 noon in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Shawn Slone officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 13 after 6 PM and all day Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, KY.
