Betty R. Compton (Marcum) Meade

Betty Ruth Marcum Compton Meade, age 93, of Ivel, KY, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Pikeville Nursing and Rehab Center, Pikeville, KY.  She was born March 13, 1925 in Pike County, KY., a daughter of the late Ben and Allie Curnett Marcum.  She was a member of the Toms Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons; Jimmy Compton, Stanville, KY and Roger (Glenna) Compton, Ivel, KY, two daughters; Joan (Brad) Strachan, Ft. Worth, TX and Connie Compton, Tampa, FL, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband; Quentin Compton, second husband; Preston Meade, two brothers; Shalus and Clifton Marcum and one sister; Garnett Lynch.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Tim McCoy and Chuck Ferguson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY, visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with church service at 7 p.m., under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
