Barbara Daniels Obituary

Barbara Faye Daniels, 88, of Lexington, and widow of Wade Daniels passed away on December 31, 2021.  She was born to the late Con Floyd Burchwell and Roxie Meade Burchwell on January 13, 1933 in Hi Hat, Floyd County, Kentucky. 

 

Barbara and Wade married in Floyd County February 19, 1949.  They moved to Urbana, Ohio with their first two children, and their remaining four children were born in Urbana.  Urbana is where Wade entered the tool and die trade.  Wade and Barbara moved back to Kentucky in 1966.  In 1972, they moved to their farm in Clay City, Kentucky.  Barbara lived there ten years, but lost Wade in 1979. Barbara moved back to Lexington in 1982. 

 

Barbara enjoyed cooking large family meals.  She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting afghans.  She had a green thumb and loved flowers, especially roses.  She was also an avid UK Basketball fan.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wadie Jean Hitchner; three siblings, Bernard Burchwell, Elmer “Bozo” Burchwell, and Joyce Ray Stumbo; two sister-in-laws, Bernard’s wife Lillian and Elmer’s wife Betty; and one brother in-law, Paul Stumbo. 

 

Known to her family as “Mamaw,” or just Barb, Barbara is survived by five children, Deanne Faye Daniels (Russell) of Shelbyville, Gary Randall (Ruth Ann) Daniels of Crandall, Texas, Teresa Gale Daniels (Tina) of Georgetown, KY, Donna Raye Daniels (Joi) Lexington, KY, Rhonda Daniels Conner (Jerry) Lexington, KY. Six grandchildren:  Robert Allen Dargavell, Lexington, KY, Stacy Anne Dargavell, Nicholasville, KY,  Philip Wade Conner, Lexington, KY,  Gary Tyler Daniels of Dallas, Texas, Cathryne Carlye Daniels of Dallas, Texas,  Jordan Taylor Barnes, Lexington, KY,  Kyle Dylan Conner of Richmond, KY,  and Jay Cameron Conner of Lexington, KY. Two great-grandchildren, Hallie O’Bradovich, Lexington, KY, and Brooke Dargavell, Paris, KY.  She is also survived by her very dear sister, Verna “Teeny” (Jimmy) Hays of Martin, Kentucky.  And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Also, there are three special Chihuahuas who miss her dearly: Ginger, Roxie, and Pedro.  

 

Services in Lexington will occur on Tuesday, January 4th at Milward-Man O’ War, 1509 Trent Boulevard, Lexington, KY 40515: Visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by the funeral at 7:00 p.m.  The family kindly asks that attendees wear masks and observe social distancing.

 

Her graveside service will occur on Wednesday, January 5th, 12:00 p.m. at Davidson Memorial Gardens in Allen, Kentucky (Floyd County).  Hall Funeral Home in Martin, Kentucky in charge of the graveside service.  If you need directions to the cemetery, call the funeral home at (606) 285-9261.
