Avonell (Akers) Bentley

Avonell Bentley, age 81, of Grethel, KY, widow of Richard Bentley, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at her residence.  She was born January 11, 1944 in Grethel, KY, a daughter of the late Bert and Octavia Hall Akers.  She attended the Old Regular Baptist Church and was a retired cook from John M. Stumbo Elementary.

She is survived by one son; Orville "Dougie" (Donna) Bentley, Grethel, KY, three sisters-in-law; Verbal Akers, Sola Akers and Faye Akers all of Grethel, KY, her special niece: Danita Evans, Grethel, KY; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sons; Richie Dean and Jimmy Dwayne Bentley, five brothers; Ishmael, Charlie, Mike, Anthony and Arnie Akers, two sisters; Wanda Shepherd and Juanita "Teto" Reynolds.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Teddy Hall and other Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Akers Cemetery, Akers Br., Grethel, KY, visitation is 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
