Avenell Lewis Bentley, age 87, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of Samuel Bentley, died Thursday, April 1, 2021 in the Highlands Appalachian Regional Hospital, Prestonsburg. She was born April 7, 1933 in Rose Dale, KY a daughter of the late Milford and Mary Beatrice Pennington Lewis. Avenell was a homemaker and member of the Clear Creek United Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Samuel (Rhonda) Bentley, Allen, KY, one daughter; Tamara (Greg) Clark, Prestonsburg, three brothers; Frank (Lynn) Lewis, Chalmer (Joyce) Lewis, William Lewis, all of Niles, OH, one sister; Judy (Edd) Johnson-Crown, Niles, OH, six grandchildren; Michael Bentley, Sammy Gene Bentley, Stacy Bentley, Matraca Tackett, Bethany Pennington, Stacy Clark, and 15 great grandchildren; Zach, Colby, Jake, Sydney, Maxton, Macon, Bentley, Brantley, Brylie, Ryan, Ethan, Rydge, Ashley, Zach, Leighann and Breeana.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sons, John and Leon Bentley, two grandchildren; Steven Bentley and Samantha Bentley, six brothers; Pete Lewis, Fred Lewis, Warren Lewis, Curt Lewis, Woody Weaver and Vearl Thomas and one sister; Laura Ethel Wooden.
Funeral service for Avenell Lewis Bentley will be conducted Monday, April 5, 2021 at 11 am in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Barry Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg. Visitation is after 6 PM Saturday and after 2 pm Sunday at Hall Funeral Home.
