Allie Anne May, age 97 of Prestonsburg, widow of Elijah Brown "E.B." May, Jr., passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at her residence. She was born May 29, 1923 in Prestonsburg, a daughter of the late Charles K. and Hattie Alley Moore. She was a charter member of the Community United Methodist Church, Prestonsburg, a volunteer at Highlands ARH Auxiliary, and a homemaker.
She is survived by four sons; George D. (Sharon) May and Gary A. (Linda) May all of Prestonsburg, KY; Charles E. "Chuck" (Lynn) May, Lexington, KY; and Leslie Brian "Bear" (Shelia) May, Madisonville, KY. Eight grandchildren; William L. "Chip" May II, Jon Thomas May, Christopher Matthew May, Michael Patrick May, Stephanie Anne May Lang, Sara V.A. May, Nickolas Brian May, and Abbie Elizabeth May; seven great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; caregivers; Nora Johnson, Glenda Johnson, Barbara Gibson, and Vickie Flannery.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son; William Lamarr "Bill" May and his wife Edna Lynn.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church, Prestonsburg, with Andrew Donner and Mark Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the May Cemetery, Mays Branch, Prestonsburg, KY. Visitation is from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home. Mrs. May will lie in state Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Mrs. May to the Community United Methodist Church or Appalachian Hospice Care.
