Allen Chaffins

Allen Chaffins, age 86, of Hueysville, KY, widower of Sharon Chaffins, died Monday, October, 7, 2024 in the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, McDowell, KY. He was born May 18, 1938 in Garrett, KY a son of  the late Ivan and Nellie Hicks Chaffins. Allen was a retired technician for Thacker & Grigsby Telephone Company.

   He is survived by his children, Peggy (Glenn) Martin, Dry Creek, KY, Beverly (and the late Jeff Samons, Martin, KY, Patricia (Dustin) Buchanan, Sylva, NC, Roby Chaffins, Wayland, KY, Todd (Kelly) Chaffins, Louisville, KY, Kathy (Mike) Prater, David, KY, Cindy (Steve) Porter, Langley, KY, Breonna Vanderpool, Saltlick, KY, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his favorite care giver Janetta Chaffins, his brothers and sisters; Gary and Danny Chaffins, both of Garrett, KY, Ossie Coburn and Joyce Conley, both of Wolcottville, IN, Belia Clemons, Lebanon, OH, Phyllis Meadows, Findley, OH, and Helen Tuttle, Garrett, KY.

   In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one son, Robbie Chaffins, step-daughter; Dorothy Hamilton, brothers; William, Charles, Jimmie, Herbert, sisters; Virginia Howard, Maxine Hayes, Eugunia Howard, Daisy Slone and Algae Cooper.  

Funeral service for Allen Chaffins will be conducted Friday, October 11, 2024 at 12 noon in the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, with Brent Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepherd Cemetery. Salt Lick, KY. Visitation is after 6 PM Thursday at Hall Funeral Home.
