Ruby Jean Howard Stephens, age 83 of Gunlock, KY, widow of Radie Howard, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 at her residence. She was born August 22, 1935 in Gunlock, a daughter of the late Goble and Bertha Shepherd Shepherd. She was a member of the Salt Lick United Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by five sons; Garland (Judy) Howard, Sitka, KY, Darvin (Janet) Howard, Gunlock, KY, Kenny Howard, Gunlock, KY, Jeffery (Rhonda) Howard, Campton, KY and Timothy (Diane) Howard, Salyersville, KY, one daughter; Miranda (Thomas) Tussey, David, KY, two brothers; Ollie Shepherd, Kendalville, IN and Willie Shepherd, Pierceton, IN, four sisters; Mary Bradley, Silver Lake, IN, Barbara Shepherd, Gunlock, KY, Bonnie Ingram, Gunlock, KY and Lois Butcher, River, KY, ten grandchildren; Jonathan, James, Joshua, Justin, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Nathan, Kayla, Olivia and Tommi Sue and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; Luther & Elwood Shepherd, one sister; Wanda Allen, one granddaughter; Amanda Howard and one daughter-in-law; Karen Howard.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday, June 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brushy Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Gunlock, KY, with Randy Brown, Earl Miller and Darvin Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Brushy Bill Cemetery, Gunlock, visitation is from 6 until 10 p.m. Saturday and all day Sunday until 10 p.m. at the funeral home with service each evening at 7 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church, under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
