Phyllis J. (Hopkins) Martin

Phyllis J. Martin, age 80, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Floyd County, wife of Richard Martin, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at UK Markey Cancer Center, Lexington, KY.  She was born March 16, 1939 in McDowell, KY, a daughter of the late Ross and Josie Newsome Hopkins. She was a member of the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church and a nursing service clerk with McDowell ARH.

In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by one son: Jamie (Mary Beth) Martin, Carbondale, IL, three daughters; Sherri (Oscar) Osborne, DeLand, FL, Karen (Rick) Akers, Sitka, KY and Kathy (Perry Jr) Hall, Lexington, KY, two brothers; Ronnie Hopkins McDowell, KY and Billy Ross Hopkins, Stanford, KY, seven grandchildren; Jodi (David) Nieves, Stephanie (Chris) Bartone, Shane (Tina) Akers, Jessica (R.D.) Hamilton, Tyler Hall, Drew Martin, Katie Martin and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Robert Hopkins, two sisters; Donna Jean Tuttle and Dorothy Miles and one grandchild; Corey Hall.

Funeral service for Mrs. Martin will be conducted on Thursday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Deaner Moore and Jimmy Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, KY. Visitation is Wednesday 5-9 PM with church service at 6:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, KY.
