Margaret "Joanne" Lou (Newman) Wright

Margaret Newman Wright, 79, of Grethel, KY, entered Heaven’s gate on July 21, 2019. She was born in Grethel, Kentucky on February 22, 1940 to Robert and Nannie (Tackett) Newman. She grew up in a happy, close-knit family with very loving and caring parents.

Margaret was referred affectionally by her loved ones as Joanne, Aunt Lou, or Sissy. She was the owner of Joanne’s Florist in Grethel, Kentucky, which she opened in 1992. She was very passionate about making floral arrangements and often ask God for guidance and direction.

She is preceded in death by her former husband, Jessie Perry Wright, whom passed away on January 8, 1992. She is also preceded in death by her parents, her sister and best friend, Lizzie Newman Branham, her brother Travis Newman, her sister Inis Newman, her brother Raymond Newman and two step-sons, Lafe and Jack Hall.

Margaret is survived by her husband Gene Hall of Grethel, KY; 7 step-children including, Greg (Helen) Hall, Timothy (Teresa) Hall, Gary (Robin) Hall, Winnie Hall, Angela Charles- Zapata, Patrick (Susan) Hall, Mary Loaiza, 18 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

She is survived by three brothers and their spouses, Willis and Joyce Newman; Melvin and Culla Newman; and her special baby brother, Kenneth and Mary Ann Newman, all from Grethel, KY, brother-in-law James Branham, and sister-in-law Christine Newman. She is survived by her sister Lizzie’s children — Annette Branham, Anna Branham Marcedes, and Jim Branham — whom she often referred to as her own children. She is also survived by a host of other nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored with all her heart.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Hime Chapel with Clinton Moore and Jimmy Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in the Newman Family Cemetery, Grethel, KY, visitation if after 6 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
