Linda Sue Howell McCoy, 72, passed away on February 8, 2019. She was born on October 9, 1946, to the late Johnie Howell and Mary Moore Howell Mosley in Floyd County, KY. After her father’s death, the late Kinnell Mosley became her stepfather.
Linda Sue is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gary Wendell McCoy, and two sons: Gary Wayne (Tracy Powell-McCoy) and Johnathan Lee (Tara) McCoy. Her four grandchildren: Gary Addison (Brittany Campbell-his fiance) McCoy, Sailor Olivia McCoy, Dax Ryder McCoy, and Poet Grace McCoy, were of unspeakable joy to her. She loved spending time with them, and they with her. She also loved spending time with her numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Each of them can tell of wonderful times with Aunt Sue!!
Linda Sue has five surviving sisters: Dottie (Carmel) Howell Newman, Anna Rose (Bill) Howell Jenkins, Carol (Charles-deceased) Howell McGlothen, Beverly Faye (Charles Jeff) Hall, and Kimberly Gay (Kenny) Howell Little. One sister, Brenda Kay Howell, preceded her in death.
Linda Sue is also survived by the following step-siblings: Freddie (Colleen) Mosley, Dennis (Cherie) Mosley, Gary (Beverly-deceased) Mosley, and Kathy (Jerry) Mosley Ryan.
Two aunts also survive: Loretta (James-deceased) Moore Hall and Brenda (Johnny) Moore Newman.
Linda Sue was a graduate of McDowell High School and Spencerian College. She worked as a secretary for CAP, Floyd County 4-H, and a doctor’s office throughout her career. Upon moving to Richmond, KY, in the late 1980’s, she helped her husband operate several small businesses: a laundromat, barber shop, and tanning salon.
She was a person of strong Christian faith and attended several churches. Her Christian faith was evidenced by her constant outpouring of love, compassion, and kindness to everyone. One of her greatest enjoyments was preparing and serving meals to family and friends.
Services for Linda Sue will be as follows: visitation at Oldham, Roberts, and Powell Funeral Home in Richmond, KY, from 2-5pm Sunday, February 10, with a short service at 4:45pm.
A second visitation will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, KY, from 5-10pm on Monday, February 11.
Funeral services will be held at Hall Funeral Home at 11am Tuesday, February 12 with burial to follow at Newman Cemetery in Hi Hat, KY. Roger Johnson of Wheelwright Freewill Baptist will officiate. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
