Joyce (Short) Allen

Joyce Short Allen, age 88, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of James Preston Allen, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at her residence.  She was born November 6, 1930, the daughter of the late William Kenneth and Theckley Osborne Short.

 Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church-Irene Cole Memorial, a member of the Prestonsburg Woman's Club, the Prestonsburg Homemakers, the Floyd County Extension Office, the Eastern Star, the Rebeccas and the Prestonsburg Housing Authority.  She retired after 32 years as a Land Supervisor from KY-WV Gas Company and she was also a real estate agent.

She is survived by her son; James Kenneth (Marsha) Allen, Prestonsburg, KY, two grandchildren; Alyssa Nicole (Ronnie) Mossotti and James Tanner Allen and one great grandson; Preston Granger Mossotti.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Carpenter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Osborne Cemetery, Eastern, KY, visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
